Wednesday, April 16, 2025 — Grace in the Breaking
Week’s Theme (April 14–18, 2025): The Softness of Strength
Some things don’t break you—
they break through you.
The sharp edge becomes a shaping tool.
The wound becomes a window.
And through the crack…
light floods in.
Words of Light
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
—Psalm 34:18 (NIV)
Reflection
We often resist the breaking.
It feels like failure.
Like punishment.
Like something we weren’t strong enough to prevent.
But what if the breaking isn’t the end?
What if it’s the beginning of something sacred?
Jesus broke the bread and gave thanks.
He knew what was coming—
the betrayal, the cross, the silence.
But still, He gave thanks.
Still, He allowed Himself to be broken
so that something eternal could come through.
What has broken you lately?
Where are the places that still feel raw?
That sting a little when touched?
Let them breathe.
Let grace sit beside them.
Let the breaking do what it came to do—
not destroy you,
but deliver you into something more whole
than you’ve ever been.
What in your life has felt like a breaking open rather than a breaking down?
Where has God shown up in the midst of your rawest moments?
Affirmation
I honor my breaking as a passage, not an ending.
Grace meets me in my tender places and makes them sacred.
With Courage,
Rita
