Love’s true strength is not in how loud it speaks,
but in how quietly it holds.
Words of Light
“As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you.”
— Isaiah 66:13 (NIV)
Reflection
Nurture is often misunderstood.
It’s not loud.
It doesn’t demand attention.
It rarely asks to be seen.
And yet, it is one of the most powerful expressions of love.
Real nurturing happens in the quiet places—the moments no one applauds and few people notice. It is the steady presence that remains when things are uncertain. The gentle care that continues, even when it is not returned in equal measure.
It looks like:
- checking in on someone when they haven’t asked
- offering comfort without needing recognition
- holding space when words are not enough
- tending to what matters, even when it feels small
This kind of love is not weak.
It is intentional.
It is enduring.
It is deeply rooted.
But nurturing, when given without replenishment, can also become depleting.
Many who nurture others so faithfully have learned to overlook their own needs—to keep giving, keep holding, keep showing up, even when they are quietly running low.
This is where the nature of nurture must expand.
You are not only called to nurture others.
You are also invited to nurture yourself.
To extend the same patience, care, and compassion inward.
To recognize when you need rest, support, and gentleness.
To honor your own humanity, not just your capacity to give.
God’s love models this kind of nurture perfectly.
It does not abandon.
It does not rush.
It does not withdraw when you are weary or unsure.
It remains—steady, compassionate, and near.
And from that place, you are invited to give—not from depletion, but from a source that continues to sustain you.
Nurture is not just what you offer.
It is also what you receive.
And both matter.
Pause and Consider...
- Where in your life are you giving nurture without receiving enough in return?
- What would it look like to offer yourself the same care you extend to others?
- Where do you already see quiet, steady love supporting you?
Affirmation
I honor the quiet strength of nurture in my life.
I give with intention and receive with grace.
Peace,
Rita
