Even when the flowers fade,
love lingers in the quiet corners of memory—
in the songs we still hear,
the phrases we still repeat,
the tenderness that shaped us
long after the moment has passed.
Some love never really leaves.
It changes form.
It echoes.
It stays.
Words of Light
“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!”
— Isaiah 49:15 (NIV)
Reflection
Love lingers.
It lingers in recipes passed down through generations.
In the way we comfort others.
In the habits, wisdom, prayers, and quiet gestures that became a part of us before we even realized it.
Some loves remain soft and comforting.
Others ache when remembered.
And for many, Mother’s Day holds both gratitude and grief at the same time.
There are those who celebrate with full hearts.
Those who long for what never fully was.
Those who miss the sound of a mother’s voice.
Those learning how to mother themselves gently after years of carrying too much alone.
Yet even here—within memory, longing, tenderness, and loss—love lingers.
Not only human love, but the enduring love of God.
A love that does not disappear when seasons change.
A love that does not withdraw when people fail us.
A love that remembers us completely.
God’s love remains present in the spaces where our hearts still ache, still heal, still hope.
And perhaps that is part of what makes love sacred:
its ability to remain.
To echo beyond time.
To continue shaping us quietly, even after the moment has passed.
So if this season feels tender for you, let that tenderness be met with grace.
You do not have to rush past what you feel.
You are still held.
Still remembered.
Still loved.
Pause and Consider...
- What expressions of love still linger within you today?
- Where do memory and healing meet in your life right now?
- How can you offer yourself gentleness in this season?
Affirmation
I am held by a love that lingers, comforts, and remains with me through every season.
Peace,
Rita
