In winter’s hush, a single light glows—
not to erase the darkness, but to meet it.

Words of Light

“To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1

Reflection

Winter often carries a quiet tension. Lights glow, songs play, and celebrations unfold—yet beneath the surface, many hearts are holding sorrow, loss, or memories that ache. This contrast can feel heavy, as if joy and grief are competing forces rather than shared companions.

But contrast is not a flaw in the human experience; it is part of how we learn depth, tenderness, and truth. The presence of sorrow does not erase moments of joy, and joy does not betray grief. Both can exist together, shaping us in ways neither could alone.

Like the lantern glowing against the snow, light becomes more visible when darkness surrounds it. In the same way, moments of gratitude, connection, or peace often feel most meaningful when they rise alongside pain. There is no need to choose between honoring what hurts and receiving what comforts—you are allowed to hold both.

Today is not an invitation to resolve the tension, but to acknowledge it. To recognize that what you feel is layered, complex, and valid. The weight you carry is not weakness; it is evidence of a heart that has loved deeply and continues to hope.
