A steady flame glowing brightly in the dark, symbolizing commitment and resilience as the fuel for progress.
Motivation may fade, but commitment carries you forward. ‘Let your yes be yes, and your no, no.’ – Matthew 5:37.

Wednesday, January 8, 2025 — Commitment vs. Motivation

Words of Light

“But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’” – Matthew 5:37

Reflection

Motivation is like a spark—it’s powerful but often fleeting. Commitment, on the other hand, is the steady fuel that keeps the fire of progress burning. When you rely solely on motivation, you may find yourself stopping and starting, caught in a cycle of highs and lows. But commitment pushes you forward, even on the days when you don’t feel like taking action.

Jesus reminds us in Matthew 5:37 to let our “Yes” be “Yes” and our “No” be “No.” This teaches us to honor the promises we make to ourselves and others. When you commit to your goals, you honor not just your word but also the vision God has placed in your heart.

Take a moment to reflect: How can you deepen your commitment to your goals today, especially when motivation feels distant?

Affirmation

“I stay committed to my goals and trust God to guide me through every step of the journey.”

Peace, Rita
