Canyon of Echoes
A Poem by Rita Lynn Berry

Sometimes what echoes back is not silence, but the sound of our own longing.
This poem was born from one of those moments — of wrestling, reaching, and still choosing to believe.

Sometimes the light seems so distant,

Sometimes a flicker won’t do,

Sometimes the tunnel is winding.

O light in darkness, where are You?

I started the journey uphill,

In search of higher ground,

I’m starting to wonder, whose will?

Is it Your will that I be found?

On my knees, pleading,

Pleading for You to come and save me,

My soul feels short of breathing.

How with You can this be?

Pray my vision restored by Your omnipotence.

Once more, I come to You, yielding my defense.

The bramble has punctured my stride.

One step now in view.

A canyon of echoes inside.

My care and hope in You.
