Just For Today
A Poem by Rita Lynn Berry

Just for today, I let the walls speak. I let the wind hold me. I trace the circle back to myself.

I don’t know what I’m afraid of

A big brick wall before me stands

Proud and tall, standing in the way of

The gift of promise at my command

I’ve walked among the shadows

Silky sheer and sultry too

Holds a million of my battles

Consistent torment ensues

I’d love to tell a story

Fuzzy bright eyes, my heart is you

My sigh, my breath, mazes, gory

In capsules made for two

One for in the morning

As I share my honey, dew

The other in the evening

Gentle kisses beneath the moon

And then I feel the dawn

As I sail the wind towards earth

I’ve drawn a big full circle

Back to one, back to birth
