The Journey Through
Friday of Holy Week | April 18
What He Walked Through⦠and What We Walk Through Now
š Scripture:
āJesus called out with a loud voice, āFather, into your hands I commit my spirit.ā When he had said this, he breathed his last.ā
āLuke 23:46 (NIV)
⨠Reflection and Insight
The sky grew dark at noon.
The curtain tore.
The earth shook.
And the Saviorāthe one who healed, fed, taught, lovedābreathed His last.
āIt is finished,ā He said.
But not as defeatāas declaration.
This was not the end.
It was the moment everything shifted.
From the outside, it looked like failure.
A cross. A tomb.
The silence of a crowd that once cheered.
But in the Spirit?
It was complete.
The work had been done.
The sacrifice had been made.
The veil had been tornāand now, nothing would separate us again.
š„ The Everyday Parallel
Sometimes it feels like everything is falling apart.
Like the vision you held so close has died right in front of you.
Like your effort wasnāt enough. Like your offering didnāt make a difference.
But this day whispers:
Just because something is over doesnāt mean it was wasted.
Death is not always destruction.
Sometimes itās divine transition.
There are things in usāold identities, expired roles, expectations, even relationshipsāthat must die before we can rise.
š Personal Reflection
Iāve walked through seasons that felt like burial.
Dark nights of the soul. Closed doors. Dreams deferred.
And I asked, āWas it all for nothing?ā
But now I seeāGod doesnāt waste surrender.
Jesus laid down His life not because He had to,
but because love required a path that only sacrifice could walk.
And in my own life, Iāve learned that when I say āIt is finished,ā
it doesnāt mean Iām done.
It means God is about to do what only God can.
šš¾ Invitation for Reflection
What have you been holding that needs to be released?
Where in your life do you feel like something is finishedābut donāt yet see what comes next?
This Friday, donāt rush past the pain.
Let the surrender be sacred.
Let the quiet be holy.
Jesus laid down everything.
And He did it just for you.
š¶ Musical Moment
Song: āJust for Meā ā Kenneth Louis
African American Heritage Hymnal
āThey pierced Him in His side,
He hung His head and diedā¦
He did all thatājust for me.ā
This song doesnāt need a band or big chorus.
It needs space.
Because when you really listenā¦
and let the weight of those words fall on youā¦
you realize just how personal this moment really is.
This wasnāt abstract.
It wasnāt distant.
It was loveāin the fleshālaid down for you.
