I may bend, but I will not break.

Reflection
Storms have a way of revealing what is rooted within us.
When life is steady and predictable, it is easy to speak confidently about trust, hope, and faith. But when the winds begin to rise — when disappointment lingers, uncertainty stretches on, grief arrives unexpectedly, or exhaustion settles into the soul — we begin to discover what truly steadies us beneath the surface.
Storms expose what cannot sustain us.
But they also reveal the quiet strength that grace has been building within us all along.
To remain steady through the storm does not mean you are untouched by hardship.
It does not mean you never cry, never question, never feel weary, or never need rest.
Steadiness is not emotional numbness.
It is rootedness.
It is the quiet inner knowing that even while life shifts around you, God remains constant.
There are days when faith feels strong and unwavering.
And there are days when faith looks more like simply continuing —
breathing,
praying softly,
resting when needed,
and trusting that God is still near even when clarity feels far away.
Both are sacred.
Sometimes resilience is loud.
But more often, it is quiet.
It looks like showing up again after disappointment.
It looks like remaining tender after pain.
It looks like continuing forward even when your heart feels tired.
Storms bend us.
But they do not have to break us.
Especially when we are deeply rooted in grace.
Peace is not found in pretending storms do not exist.
Peace is found in learning how to remain anchored in grace even while life feels uncertain.
And sometimes God’s presence meets us like the eye of the storm — a stillness that steadies the soul even while the winds continue around us.
You are here today.
Still breathing.
Still becoming.
Still held.
That is no small thing.
Perhaps you have underestimated the strength it has taken simply to continue.
But grace has carried you farther than fear said you could go.
And even now, God continues forming steadiness within you —
not through pressure,
not through perfection,
but through presence.
So today, let yourself breathe deeply.
You do not have to force certainty.
You do not have to carry the storm alone.
You do not have to prove your strength through striving.
You are steady because you are held.
You will not break because the everlasting arms still uphold you.
The journey continues.
Hope remains.
And so do we.
This reflection is part of the Trust series — written for seasons when steadiness is formed not by strength alone, but by what holds you through the storm.
Pause and Consider...
- What storms am I currently navigating in this season of life?
- Where have I already seen evidence of resilience within myself?
- What does steadiness look like for me right now?
- How can I lean more fully into God’s grace instead of striving alone?
- What would change if I trusted that I am already being held?
Affirmation
I am steady through the storm.
I am rooted in grace.
I am held, strengthened, and sustained by God’s love.
Peace,
Rita
