In the center of chaos, stillness speaks.
Words of Light
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
— Psalm 46:10 (KJV)
Reflection
The eye of the storm is a paradox.
In the middle of swirling winds, crashing waves, and violent movement, there exists a quiet center — a place of stillness untouched by the outer rage. Storms may continue all around it, yet within that center there is calm.
Life often feels this way.
There are seasons when everything seems to shift at once:
unexpected loss,
uncertain outcomes,
emotional exhaustion,
strained relationships,
financial pressure,
grief that lingers longer than expected,
or the ache of waiting for clarity that has not yet arrived.
And when storms come, our instinct is often to react quickly.
We strive harder.
Overthink more.
Grip tighter.
Attempt to outrun what feels uncontrollable.
But somewhere beneath the noise of fear and striving, God offers another invitation.
Not always escape.
Not always immediate answers.
But stillness.
The deepest peace is rarely found at the edges of frantic effort.
It is found in the quiet center where surrender begins.
Stillness is not passivity.
It is trust.
It is the quiet confidence that God remains present even when circumstances feel unstable.
It is the willingness to stop fighting for control long enough to remember that you are already being held.
Sometimes we believe strength means constantly moving, fixing, solving, and carrying.
But many storms cannot be managed through effort alone.
Some storms invite us inward.
Into prayer.
Into breath.
Into surrender.
Into trust deeper than understanding.
And often, it is there — in that sacred stillness — that God restores perspective.
Fear becomes quieter.
Grace becomes more visible.
And the soul remembers what panic tried to make it forget:
God is still God.
There are moments when peace does not arrive because the storm has ended.
Peace arrives because God meets us in the middle of it.
Sometimes His presence steadies us like being anchored in grace beneath the waves of uncertainty.
And sometimes His peace feels like remaining steady through the storm even when life still feels unsettled around us.
You do not have to outrun every storm. There are seasons when grace simply carries us, like being carried on the wind.
You do not have to force certainty before resting.
You do not have to carry the full weight of the future alone.
The invitation today is gentler than that.
Pause.
Breathe deeply.
Release what striving cannot solve.
And allow yourself to rest, even briefly, in the quiet center of God’s presence.
Even here.
Even now.
God is still God.
Pause and Consider...
- Where in my life am I striving instead of surrendering?
- What would stillness look like for me in this season?
- How has fear been shaping my responses lately?
- What helps me reconnect to God’s presence during difficult moments?
- What might change if I trusted that I do not have to carry everything alone?
Affirmation
I am centered in stillness.
I do not have to fear the storm.
God’s presence steadies me, holds me, and brings peace to my soul.
Peace,
Rita
